Authentic Connection

Inner Journey Counseling was founded on the need for deep, authentic connection with one’s self and with others. It is my personal journey of authentic self-discovery and connection that led Inner Journey Counseling from Austin, Texas to Marietta, Georgia. If you were looking for InnerJourneyTX.com you have been redirected to the right place.

My family (and my past) resides in Georgia and Alabama. As my personal family grew in Austin with the birth of my 2 children, so did my need to strengthen (and in some cases repair) my connection with my family of origin. It is important to me as a therapist to “walk the walk,” and thus I regularly invest in my own inner work.

There comes a time when our inner work expands into the outer world and takes root in the realities of daily living

and relationships. Austin was the setting of my inner journey and transformation, or as Brene Brown would call it from her book Rising Strong (http://brenebrown.com/books/), the rumbling with my innermost story. Georgia is the setting of my integrated return, where I unite the changes within my self with my past, present, and future relationships.

Inner Journey Counseling is the embodiment not only of my personal journey but the journey we all take in life that is fondly known as “The Hero’s Journey.” The Hero’s Journey, coined by Joseph Campbell in his book The Hero With A Thousand Faces (https://www.jcf.org/works/hero-with-a-thousand-faces-the-36/) is the quest of moving through one’s inner struggle (and sometimes darkness) to awaken to one’s True Self. Once awakened to the True Self, this Self is then integrated with the outside world revolutionizing one’s relationships and life experience. I invite you to come journey with me. Who knows where the journey might take you? For me, it led to more meaningful relationships, a deeper knowing of myself, and Marietta, Georgia.
